Plantar Fasciitis

What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is the irritation and/or inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot and connects our heel bone to our toes and supports the arch of the foot. This causes a sharp pain along the bottom of the foot close to the heel which is typically worse in the morning or after periods of sitting.

Pain from plantar fasciitis will often improve once moving, however might return after longer period of standing or walking, or after being immobile again for a period of time.

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain and can be found in individuals of all activity levels.
