What is laser therapy?

Laser Therapy, also known as cold laser or low-level laser therapy, is now more accurately referred to as photobiomodulation therapy. Photobiomodulation therapy, or PBMT, uses red and near-infrared wavelengths of light from light emitting diodes (LEDs) to promote healing in various ways. ​

How does laser therapy, or PBMT, work?

PBMT uses red and near-infrared wavelengths of lights that interact with photoreceptors in our tissues, initiating photochemical reactions that have positive effects on cellular metabolism and recovery from damage and inflammation. When used correctly, this can allow for pain reduction and  faster healing.

PMBT has been shown to have various effects on our tissues, including reducing inflammation and swelling, promoting muscle, collagen, cartilage, and bone formation, as well as the creation of new blood vessels. All of these effects, and more, allow our bodies to heal from various injuries quicker. ​
