Golfer's Elbow
Medial Epicondylitis
What is Golfer's Elbow?Golfer’s Elbow, also known as medial epicondylitis, is a condition that affects the inner portion of the elbow and is usually the result of overloading the flexor tendons of the wrist. This can happen either through repetitive motions or sudden forceful movements of wrist flexion. Unlike the name suggests, golfer’s elbow does not only affect those who play golf – anyone can develop this painful condition. People with work or hobbies that include repetitive movements of the wrist, elbow, or gripping activities are at higher risk of developing golfer’s elbow.
Pain with medial epicondylitis is typically located on the bony prominence on the inner side of the elbow. This is where the tendons of the flexor muscles attach. Pain can also spread down the inner forearm and sometimes move into the wrist or palm as well. |
